OMNICheck Plus Software From Codebench Is First FIPS 201-Approved Card Authentication Key System for Mobile Platforms

Codebench, Inc., a provider of TWIC / HSPD-12 / FIPS-201 authentication software, announced recently that its OMNICheck Plus software was approved as a Card Authentication Key System for mobile devices by the GSA FIPS 201 Evaluation Program.

OMNICheck is a mobile validation software application that verifies PIV, TWIC, FRAC, CAC, and DESFire credentials over the reader's contact or contactless interface. By integrating with a physical access control database, the software provides security managers with a low-cost mobile reader that controls access to Controlled, Limited, and Exclusion areas as defined by NIST Special Publication 800-116. Once a card is validated and the cardholder is identified, the software emulates a physical access control card reader, so that the access control system can decide whether to permit access through a gate or door.

The products are available on several mobile biometric terminals, including the Cross Match BE.U Mobile, DAP CE3240B, Edgeline CN3/CN4 PIV, MaxID iDL500, Psion Teklogix (Sagem) MC200, and Motorola MC75 (Sagem).

“This is effectively PKI at the door, but without the cabling." says Bob Fontana, president and chief technology officer at Codebench. "Until the access control industry can produce low-cost, high assurance readers that work reliably and securely, OMNICheck Plus is a tool that managers can use to meet their short-term or temporary validation requirements."

The software is integrated with 18 manufacturers’ physical access control systems and is currently deployed by government and commercial users at approximately 40 locations around the country. It is well-known for its use as the leading mobile TWIC reader solution.

Codebench is a software development firm focused exclusively on physical security applications. A certified Women’s Business Enterprise located in Coconut Creek, Fla., the company serves the government, Fortune 500 and academic markets.
