The Show Must Go On

I’m just back from New York and attending ISC Solutions. It was great to see and briefly visit with Beth Blake of Reed Expositions. She is a one-woman count of greatness for the tradeshow and the media, especially how she gets things done.
I thought the show was excellent; traffic on the floor was great. Many exhibitors that I talked with agreed. There was some hand-wringing and worry over the show. Bottom line is, it’s a good show and worry seldom gets the job done.
For starters, there were at least 250 exhibitors on the show floor, and the show organizer is reporting the largest ratio of attendees was the security end user, followed by integrators, and then dealer and installers.
Here’s an interesting dynamic from ISC Solutions. Many integrators brought their end user customers to the event to see the products and solutions together. This has to be a benefit to manufacturers, since it can potentially shorten the sales cycle.
Next year’s participation renewals are up by 16 percent, so apparently the rebranding of ISC Solutions is working.
Looking forward to the security week in 2011 in New York.
