Avigilon Earns 2010 BC Export Award for Best New Exporter

Avigilon has been named Best New Exporter in the 2010 BC Export Awards. Co-hosted by the Ministry of Tourism, Trade and Investment and Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME), the BC Export Awards recognize the valuable role exporters play in the BC economy.

"The nominees and winners this year have all demonstrated the leadership and innovation that drives BC's export industry. Despite continued economic challenges, they continue to grow their businesses and have helped our province achieve impressive export numbers," said Craig Williams, vice president BC Division, CME. "It is important that we continue to recognize their achievements and the important role they play in the success of our economy."

The award is the fourth one that Avigilon has received in 2010, recognizing the company's growth. This year alone, Avigilon also was

  • named one of the top five fastest growing technology companies in Canada in the Deloitte Technology Fast 50;
  • earned a spot on Red Herring's North America 100 list for most promising private technology ventures in North America; and
  • named BCTIA's "Emerging Company of the Year."

"With triple-digit revenue growth and numerous business and technology awards, 2010 has been a banner year for Avigilon," said Alexander Fernandes, president and CEO. "We are excited to be recognized for our contributions to BC's thriving export economy."

The awards are co-hosted annually by CME and the Provincial Government of British Columbia. They are open to all B.C. companies that have been exporting a product or service for two or more years. Companies are either nominated or self apply for the awards. The Top 25 firms are chosen by an independent panel of judges, selected by the co-hosts and the sponsors for their background, experience and objectivity. There were more than 400 nominations and 200 applications received for the 2010 awards.

Avigilon designs, manufactures, and markets HD surveillance systems. The company's solutions protect and monitor thousands of customer sites in more than 60 countries around the world.
