HID Global Launches Product Security Reporting Center

HID Global has created a Product Security Reporting Center to enable customers to report potential security vulnerabilities in its products. This "secure and structured mechanism" is available on the company's website, www.hidglobal.com, according to a press release.

“We recognize that responsible members of the security community are in a position to provide valuable input to help us strengthen the overall security and value of HID Global products,” said Denis Hébert, president and CEO. “The … Product Security Reporting Center is designed to provide a framework for communicating information to us and represents one more way in which we help protect our customers from unauthorized activities.”

Claims reported through the new Product Security Reporting Center are systematically investigated, assessed, and validated within the framework of the company’s security vulnerability response process, an internal quality program that provides a comprehensive, structured process for responding to vulnerability reports and defining appropriate actions that may be required to mitigate potential security risks and inform customers.

Industry-leading software companies provide similar reporting mechanisms, but the HID Global Product Security Center is believed to be the first of its kind in the physical access control industry.

The Irvine, Calif.-based company supplies OEMs, system integrators and application developers, serving a variety of markets, including physical and logical access control, card personalization, e-government, cashless payment and industry and logistics.
