LaserCard Now Part of HID Global

HID Global’s parent company, ASSA ABLOY, has completed the acquisition of LaserCard Corporation, a which provides of secure ID solutions. The LaserCard acquisition further strengthens HID Global’s worldwide market position in the government ID market, and significantly expands its portfolio of identity authentication and government-issued credential solutions.

LaserCard’s industry-leading expertise ranges from secure card design and manufacture to issuance system implementation for large-scale citizen and resident identification programs. The company’s unique credential constructions feature LaserCard’s highly differentiated, counterfeit resistant optical security media and embedded hologram technology that enables reliable credential authentication with the human eye.

LaserCard will extend HID’s secure identity offering to include all necessary components and capabilities for producing completed national and state level government IDs. The acquisition fulfills several key objectives:
  • Extends HID Global’s product-development competencies in highly secure ID credential technology;
  • Expands HID’s geographic presence, projects and channels in the government ID market; and
  • Enhances HID’s Identity On Demand service offering and expertise.
HID also recently announced the acquisition of ActivIdentity, which strengthened the company’s portfolio of authentication and credential management solutions.
