Shanghai Financial Services Area Implements Verint IP Solution

Shanghai International Financial Centre (IFC) in China’s Pudong Lujiazui Finance and Trade Zone is implementing the Nextiva IP video portfolio from Verint Video Intelligence Solutions. As part of a multi-phase technology deployment, Shanghai IFC has begun using Verint security solutions to help secure its 70 floor twin towers, which are 260 meters and 250 meters in height respectively, office buildings, hotels, apartments and shopping malls.

Verint, along with its integration partner, Tongfang Co. Ltd., is delivering a robust security system to help deter crime and enhance the safety of businesses, residents and visitors. The solution comprises Verint’s end-to-end Nextiva VMS and intelligent edge devices, which will operate in tandem with more than 1,600 security cameras.

Together with Jin Mao Tower, World Financial Center and the Shanghai IFC, the three major landmarks in Pudong will form the key triangle financial and recreation center in Lujiazui Financial and Trade Zone. Since its establishment in 1990, Lujiazui Finance and Trade Zone has grown into a leading international financial center, and today it is the home to not only the Shanghai Stock Exchange but also financial institutions and hotels from around the world. Shanghai IFC, the largest integrated complexes development, further enhanced the important role of Lujiazui Finance and Trade Zone, targeting and recruiting leasing from top-tier luxurious brands, class-A office building investors, and world-class finance and banking sectors.

To help meet the stringent security requirements of a solution that covers the entire financial zone, Shanghai IFC under the Lujiazui Finance and Trade Zone sought a powerful, reliable and highly scalable IP video solution.

“Verint is proud to be part of this integrated real estate project in Shanghai and pleased to be a security support of one of China’s most significant financial and trade center zones,” says Elan Moriah, president of Verint Video Intelligence Solutions and Verint Witness Actionable Solutions. “Nextiva continues to be the video solution of choice for organizations around the world seeking to advance security, improve situational awareness and enhance operational effectiveness.”

  • From Surveillance to Intelligence

Years ago, it would have been significantly more expensive to run an analytic like that — requiring a custom-built solution with burdensome infrastructure demands — but modern edge devices have made it accessible to everyone. It also saves time, which is a critical factor if a missing child is involved. Video compression technology has played a critical role as well. Over the years, significant advancements have been made in video coding standards — including H.263, MPEG formats, and H.264—alongside compression optimization technologies developed by IP video manufacturers to improve efficiency without sacrificing quality. The open-source AV1 codec developed by the Alliance for Open Media—a consortium including Google, Netflix, Microsoft, Amazon and others — is already the preferred decoder for cloud-based applications, and is quickly becoming the standard for video compression of all types.
