FEIG Electronics Enters Physical Security Market

FEIG Electronics, a RFID reader manufacturer, announced their introduction to the physical security market at the upcoming ASIS Show in Orlando, Fla. with fully ISO compliant RFID reader hardware in both high (HF) and ultra high frequencies (UHF).

FEIG Electronics who previously concentrated on RFID solutions in the healthcare industry now offers the physical security market its OBID RFID readers that are fully compatible with high frequency ISO standards 14443 and/or 15693 and/or ultra high frequency ISO standard 18000-6. FEIG OBID readers that are ISO 14443 compliant are also near field communication (NFC) compatible for use with secure transactions, including cashless, using mobile phones and other NFC devices.

“Having fully ISO compliant RFID readers in high frequency and/or ultra high frequencies allows security professionals to use one or even a blend of ISO standards and/or frequencies in a single system. This is important for customers who need both accurate and secure transmissions at high speeds and long range reading distances” said Klaus Schoeke, director of sales. “This extension of RFID capabilities into the physical security market opens opportunities and a faster return on investment by allowing the integration of the employee ID with asset tracking, rapid and automatic long-range ID card reading for mustering and temperature tracking for product integrity, among other applications. RFID readers in physical security are not just for door control any more. The integration of RFID tags and readers with other applications can measurably streamline costs and reduce liabilities. The blend of ISO standards and frequencies has proven successful in the healthcare industry and is now available for security.”
