SituCon Systems, Panasonic Showcase Emergency Awareness Solution

At ISC Solutions, SituCon demonstrated how its Emergency Awareness Solution, which features a sophisticated alerting system and patented privacy protecting technology, allows individuals to instantly alert authorities when an emergency occurs and lets responders see what is happening at the scene, while privacy is guaranteed at all other times.

On display in Panasonic’s booth was SituCam Privacy Protecting Cameras which feature software-controlled “eyelids” that cover the camera’s lens until danger strikes. When asleep, the cameras are covered by an eyelid that anyone in the area can see, ensuring privacy. When the system is activated the eyelids open, alerting individuals that the authorities are watching.

In an emergency, when discreetly activated, such as by an individual’s SituCon Instant Alert button or a Panasonic wireless microphone, authorities are automatically notified to who is in trouble and where they are located. Simultaneously, SituCam’s eyelids open exposing a Panasonic camera, making real-time video of the situation available. From Panasonic’s MPEG-4 commercial cameras to H.264 Super Dynamic HD cameras, all user requirements can be satisfied and price points met.

Particular attention was paid at ISC to the additional benefits made available by the integration with different Panasonic products. For example, it will be demonstrated how administrators and other personnel can see what is happening and control the cameras from their Panasonic desktop telephones. At the same time, first responders can utilize Panasonic’s ruggedized Toughbook computers in their vehicles and on the scene, even under the most adverse conditions.

In addition to the safety and security benefits of the SituCon and Panasonic solution that were demonstrated, other value adding, cost saving and revenue generating applications shall be discussed. Most notably how, through SituCon’s software, Panasonic’s security cameras can be used for videoconferencing applications such as distance learning or Telehealth. It will be shown how a teacher can create dynamic and engaging video experiences by moving the camera between different objects or people simply by touching icons on a screen. Accordingly, healthcare personnel, while with a patient, could use a Panasonic handheld tablet to allow a remote specialist to observe, even as the patient moves throughout the room. It is applications such as these that now make additional funding sources, like educational grants or Medicare reimbursement, available for camera systems.
