Samsung Plans Two-Day IP Training Sessions Across U.S. and Canada

Samsung plans to address the growing channel need for IP technical expertise by hosting an IP Institute for industry professionals.

Samsung will offer two-day, targeted industry training courses covering IP video, network design and integration skills throughout the United States and Canada in 2012. Led by Samsung's IP Product and Development Director Dr. Edward Wassall, the Samsung IP Institute (SIPI), will leverage the company's substantial technical expertise to address the increasing need for higher-level knowledge among IP video integrators.

SIPI will provide technical salespeople, security rep firms and integrators with skills including Basic IP Network Design and Implementation, video management and IP camera image optimization. SIPI attendees will be trained in IP video integration and learn the skills and design tools that will help them become more knowledgeable integrators.

"IP video networks are becoming the norm in video surveillance, so it is more important than ever to provide basic and mid-level technical network design expertise to the channel," said Frank De Fina, Samsung senior vice president of sales and marketing. "Educating the channel to fulfill customer needs in the changing IP video market is one of the ways we are maintaining the value and quality of the Samsung brand."

The two-day courses cover a range of topics. Day one areas of study include IP video design methodologies, Ethernet 101, the open systems interconnect model, introduction to Internet protocol, TCP/IP packet structures, IP addressing basics, IP sub-netting, and introductions to virtual LANS and network switching. Day two covers a video network design case study, assigning IP addresses to a laptop, IP camera technology basics, assigning an IP address to a camera, and video LAN connectivity. Day 2 will also cover video image optimization; frame rates, resolution and compression; video management software installation; video network optimization; and a design technology review.

The first two SIPI sessions in early February in Brick, NJ, have already sold out. Future dates include Toronto, February 28-29; Texas, March 20-21; Calgary, Canada, April 17-18; Chino, CA, April 24-25; Ridgefield Park, NJ, May 29-30; and Chicago, June 26-27.
