Security 5K Mission 500 Charity Run at ISC West

Get ready to lace up the ol' sneakers. The annual 5K/Mission 500 Charity Run has become a fun and lasting tradition on the second day of ISC West and the tradition continues this year in Las Vegas.

In just five years, Mission 500 has been rallying the security industry to reach its goal of sponsoring 500 children in need. Again in 2012, attendees of the big security show will rise early on Thursday, March 29, to hit the Las Vegas pavement and participate in a road race to benefit Mission 500, a charitable organization engaging security professionals to sponsor needy children through the World Vision organization.

The charity event has been expanded to include a 2K walk for non-runners, and all donations are welcome to save the lives of hungry children around the world. The run starts promptly at 7:30 a.m. on March 29th, with proceeds from the $30.00 entry fee benefitting Mission 500. Race bags and complimentary snacks will be available for runners following the race.

The success of Mission 500 has already had a remarkable impact, with a major announcement planned at the Security 5K Reception and Awards Ceremony on March 29th at the Sands Expo and Convention Center on the ISC show floor. The big announcement will highlight Mission 500's achievements - and set the stage for even bigger things to come. Organizing sponsors and the Mission 500 organization will also honor Security 5K / Mission 500 runners. Awards will be presented to winners of the various age categories and to the top male and female runners.

"The generosity and enthusiasm for this charity event, and its acceptance by the security community, have truly been thrilling. We look forward to another great turnout this year to benefit children and communities in crisis," said George Fletcher, advisory council member/volunteer, Mission 500. "One hundred percent of the proceeds will be channeled directly to World Vision, so everyone who participates is a winner."

As a non-profit organization, Mission 500 has focused security industry efforts to sponsor at least 500 children in World Vision's humanitarian efforts. World Vision is a Christian organization dedicated to helping children, families and their communities worldwide by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice.

The Security 5K / Mission 500 Race at the 2012 ISC West Expo in Las Vegas is a collaboration between organizing sponsors United Publications, publishers of Security Systems News and Security Director News; Reed Exhibitions, proprietors of ISC Expos; and Mission 500. Event sponsors are Alarm.com, Altronix Corporation, Axis Communications, Ditek, HID, LRG Marketing Communications, Panasonic, Pelco and STI. Deister Electronics is the timing sponsor, and Digital Monitoring Products (DMP) is t-shirt sponsor. Sponsorship is also provided by Samsung (race bib sponsor), Verint (top fundraiser sponsor), Brivo (refreshment sponsor) and Freeman (equipment sponsor). The race is operated by Las Vegas Running Company, a race management company that stages around 25 road races each year across Southern Nevada.
