Milestone Announces Partner Achievements

It’s always a pleasure to attend the Milestone Integration Platform Symposium, and is an eye-opening experience to see what’s happening in the networked world.

Lars Thinggaard, president and CEO of Milestone, always kicks off the event with some astounding numbers surrounding the industry. This year in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., was no different. He said there are five megatrends that are affecting the marketplace, including the economy, China, politics, climate and technology.

The economy has had its way with the world markets for some time but that hasn’t stopped Milestone from reaching incredible sales figures. Thingaard said the Chinese market is poised to become the No. 1 market in the world in the next decade, and there will be significant changes to the security industry. He also said the role of technology over the next few years will be the employment of video analytics and the HD camera.

“The majority of our sales are in the United States,” Thinggaard said. “This shows our success in the market, and we expect it to grow at a rate of 75 percent.”

I enjoy listening to Thinggaard. He is well connected and plugged into the market strategy. He said the company has plans to stay with their business interest in the education market, transportation and city surveillance, and will invest about $11 million in research and development, even in critical times.

Milestone officials also announced a roadmap for new versions of its XProtect VMS, including XProtect Corporate 5 for large, multi-site deployments, using the powerful 64-bit recording servers that handle more cameras per server through increased memory capacity.

Company partners also enjoyed a night out on the town; several of which were awarded for their contributions with the product.

Arecont Vision was named camera manufacturer of the year; Rimage, solutions partner of the year; Hewlett Packard, technology partner of the year; Anixter, distributor of the year; Johnson Controls Inc., national partner of the year; SecureNet, regional partner of the year; Open Options Inc., development partner of the year; and ADT San Diego as end user installation of the year.

I have been looking forward to this year’s GSX show in New Orleans, the Cresent City, or if you prefer The Big Easy. It seems like quite a while since we’ve been here. Twenty years ago, ASIS, as it was known then was literally washed out of the city by someone known as Katrina. It is a good thing to come back to NOLA. Read Now

    Luma x20

Snap One has announced its popular Luma x20 family of surveillance products now offers even greater security and privacy for home and business owners across the globe by giving them full control over integrators’ system access to view live and recorded video. According to Snap One Product Manager Derek Webb, the new “customer handoff” feature provides enhanced user control after initial installation, allowing the owners to have total privacy while also making it easy to reinstate integrator access when maintenance or assistance is required. This new feature is now available to all Luma x20 users globally. “The Luma x20 family of surveillance solutions provides excellent image and audio capture, and with the new customer handoff feature, it now offers absolute privacy for camera feeds and recordings,” Webb said. “With notifications and integrator access controlled through the powerful OvrC remote system management platform, it’s easy for integrators to give their clients full control of their footage and then to get temporary access from the client for any troubleshooting needs.”
