GovSec on the Top Shelf

These are exciting times for the staff of Security Products and its related offerings. Today, we opened GovSec 2012 in Washington, D.C. Our keynotes were given by the director’s of cyber security and counterterrorism from the FBI: Ralph Boelter and John Snow.

Both were excellent and in my view, very compelling experiences of the FBI in action.

Make no mistake, there are opportunities of terror, both physically and via the Internet that are real. The FBI and the joint terrorism task force are alive and well in protecting the interests of the United States and its citizens. More can be done to combat terror, and much of that is dependent upon you and me.

Wednesday’s keynote is from former Sen. George Mitchell, who is currently serving as envoy to the Middle East. If you’re in Washington, D.C., join us at 9 a.m. in room 146.

What’s new at GovSec? Like any tradeshow, there are some interesting displays. The two that caught my eye were the two-seat auto gyro helicopter. Seems like a perfect way to travel from home to the office everyday. It probably gets better gas mileage than my car, and surely the traffic isn’t as bad 1,000 feet above the freeways.

Dell, the PC computer company had its car, the Enforcer, on display. This is an amazing car, with four camera views, a thermal imaging camera, and the ability to conduct thermal stealth surveillance. I’ve seen a car similar to this at the Axis Communications booth in the past. I’d like to see which car is tricked out the most, side by side.

GovSec is open on Wednesday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you’re in Washington, D.C., we’re at the Washington Convention Center.
