RealityMobile Selects Mocana to Use With Military Mobile Devices

Reality Mobile® has chosen Mocana's NanoSSL™ secure data transport suite to provide highly secure Suite B-enabled real-time mobile video and visual collaboration for their users in the military and national security community, as part of its flagship RealityVision® video communications and collaboration platform. The Suite B-compliant Mocana NanoSSL software enabled Reality Mobile to incorporate best-in-class interoperable security into their RealityVision software platform to efficiently encrypt and decrypt real-time video streams on Android devices.

The RealityVision release applies patented peer-to-peer (P2P) technology to enable soldiers or agents in the field to share live video from their Android mobile devices in real time with each other, and with command-and-control centers. Any critical information seen in the field or on a PC screen— including UAV or drone feeds in a TOC or NOC— can be shared instantly and securely with everyone who needs to see it. The Mocana NanoSSL Suite B software secures these video streams with advanced cryptographic techniques specified by the NSA for encrypting and authenticating communications between government agencies and contractors.

“When we decided to offer a version of our RealityVision product that supports the Suite B encryption standard specified by the National Security Agency for mobile devices, we chose Mocana because of their high-performance, small-footprint solution, their security expertise and the straightforward integration of their software into our platform,” said Brian Geoghegan, executive vice president and chief product officer of Reality Mobile. “Another big advantage was their familiarity with our existing customer base, especially the Defense community, and all the requirements and nuances that are a part of that.”

“The NanoSSL NSA-specified Suite B algorithms ensure secure communications between high-assurance (classified) and basic-assurance systems, and our software delivers this through a simple API,” said Kurt Stammberger, CISSP, vice president of market development for Mocana. “Mocana NanoSSL isn’t just another SSL toolkit. It’s a professional device security platform that helps our customers shave months off their engineering timelines while delivering differentiated products with advanced security features that just aren’t available anywhere else.”

The NSA developed the Suite B specifications, also known as the Cryptographic Interoperability Strategy (CIS), to provide industry with a set of cryptographic algorithms they can use to promote cryptographic protocol and algorithm interoperability, and to create products meeting a range of U.S. government needs. Suite B is comprised of the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), the Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA), Elliptic Curve Diffie–Hellman (ECDH) and the Secure Hash Algorithm (SHA) 2.

The Mocana NanoSSL developer toolkit is a super fast, super small SSL/TLS solution specifically designed to speed product development while providing best-in-class device security services for resource-constrained environments. NanoSSL encryption can help defeat eavesdropping on wired or wireless connections by making data unreadable and difficult to redirect with consequence. Highly efficient and able to utilize hardware acceleration, Mocana NanoSSL software is built from the ground up for resource-constrained environments, and a NanoSSL client can fit in as little as 50KB of memory.

  • Gaining a Competitive Edge

Ask most companies about their future technology plans and the answers will most likely include AI. Then ask how they plan to deploy it, and that is where the responses may start to vary. Every company has unique surveillance requirements that are based on market focus, scale, scope, risk tolerance, geographic area and, of course, budget. Those factors all play a role in deciding how to configure a surveillance system, and how to effectively implement technologies like AI. Read Now

    A8V MIND

Hexagon’s Geosystems presents a portable version of its Accur8vision detection system. A rugged all-in-one solution, the A8V MIND (Mobile Intrusion Detection) is designed to provide flexible protection of critical outdoor infrastructure and objects. Hexagon’s Accur8vision is a volumetric detection system that employs LiDAR technology to safeguard entire areas. Whenever it detects movement in a specified zone, it automatically differentiates a threat from a nonthreat, and immediately notifies security staff if necessary. Person detection is carried out within a radius of 80 meters from this device. Connected remotely via a portable computer device, it enables remote surveillance and does not depend on security staff patrolling the area. 3
