SpotterRF Technology Used to Protect Bridges in Maryland

SpotterRF recently announced that its new, patented radar technology will be used to protect public bridges managed by the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA). Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) is leading a project to upgrade the security at five Maryland bridges as well as the security operations center and will integrate SpotterRF radar technology in the project. The integration of this breakthrough compact surveillance radar provides wide area intrusion detection of more than 150 acres and 90 degrees per radar unit regardless of weather conditions or visibility.

MDTA is planning ahead to reduce homeland security threats, said Neil Chung, SAIC project manager and chief systems engineer. SpotterRF compact radar makes our smart cameras even smarter and our surveillance even more active at a price point within reach of limited state budgets. SAIC combines SpotterRF radar with VidSys advanced camera technology to provide maximum visibility, automated alerts, and threat detection at a low cost-per-acre. Unlike older rotating radar, SpotterRF has no moving parts, providing years of high reliability and low maintenance costs for MDTA.

SAIC integration of VidSys physical security information management software enables organizations to proactively resolve business and security situations in real time. This in turn allows organizations to lower risk and operational costs, increase security, and respond faster to situations.

SpotterRF radar was developed for elite forces to protect critical infrastructure on the home front and abroad. SpotterRFs Network Hub automatically detects and manages attached radars for 360 degree coverage, and provides a secure Web-based user interface compatible with PCs, Android tablets and smart phones. This plug- and-play design makes it easy to use.
