Where the Action Is

Security Essen officially ends today. I get the feeling this tradeshow lasts for months as new products are announced and shown to the throngs of visitors.

One thing I noticed about Security Essen is that company executives make themselves available in the exhibition to answer questions and show off new products.

"Essen is the perfect tradeshow to display our newest products," said Dr. Magnus Ekerot, chief security officer at Mobotix. "The cost of tradeshows is high, and every two years we can show what we have to the security industry. We see Security Essen as a time to launch new products. It also gives us a product development timeframe, every two years."

Mobotix, as Ekerot explained, is the Apple brand in the security camera industry. They use their own Codex and video management system, called MXpeg, and are best known for their lineup of 3 megapixel cameras. The company will launch in the first quarter of their fiscal year, a 5 MP camera system, which up until this point, the sensors had not met their specifications, but today, company engineers are certain they will perform well.

Security Essen has truly been an exiting event for me. While it has been a great experience, our own ISC West and ASIS are super events. Like you, I'm already planning for ISC West in Las Vegas in 2013. I hope there is an excitement already building for these two events next year.
