Milestone Boosts Market Focus with New VP and Business Unit

With a strong background from two of Europe’s biggest tech companies, Janne Jakobsen heads a new division of Milestone Systems targeted to high-volume sales of IP video software.

Milestone Systems has created an organizational focus towards the high-volume, small to medium-size business (SMB) sector by creating a new company unit called Professional Products. Janne Jakobsen has been hired as Vice President to run this division. She previously has lead Bang & Olufsen’s user experience department and was responsible for Nokia’s Smart Phone portfolio business in Europe.

“Strategic plans at Milestone include further tailoring our software and marketing to match ongoing customer and partner needs for different segments,” stated John Blem, chief product officer and founder of Milestone Systems. “We are particularly pleased to get Janne on board with her experience in business and product management from Bang & Olufsen and her leadership of large international departments at Nokia. Janne has the right combination of passion, experience, business and user perspectives that will make Milestone even better at satisfying demand.”

“Milestone Systems is a very ambitious and exciting company in fast growth,” said Janne. “I aim to do my part to make our products for small and medium-size business even more attractive - not only with the best software but also with the right marketing, channel model and collaborations with our partners.”

“Milestone is already moving full speed ahead to evolve our user friendliness and functionality. Customers are requesting minimal complexity, both at the product level and in relation to installation and maintenance,” said Janne. “That’s what we’re taking into account for the next versions of our software, where the user interface will be adjusted to fit different target group requirements; it is the visual impression that affects how user-friendly we think products are.

I have been looking forward to this year’s GSX show in New Orleans, the Cresent City, or if you prefer The Big Easy. It seems like quite a while since we’ve been here. • From Monitors to Mission Control

Security Operations Centers (SOC) were once defined by rows of static monitors, each displaying a single feed with operators quietly watching for issues. That model has become obsolete. Incidents evolve too quickly, data comes from multiple locations, and decisions must be made in seconds—not minutes. Read Now

Hexagon’s Geosystems presents a portable version of its Accur8vision detection system. A rugged all-in-one solution, the A8V MIND (Mobile Intrusion Detection) is designed to provide flexible protection of critical outdoor infrastructure and objects. Hexagon’s Accur8vision is a volumetric detection system that employs LiDAR technology to safeguard entire areas. Whenever it detects movement in a specified zone, it automatically differentiates a threat from a nonthreat, and immediately notifies security staff if necessary. Person detection is carried out within a radius of 80 meters from this device. Connected remotely via a portable computer device, it enables remote surveillance and does not depend on security staff patrolling the area.
