The United State One Hundred Dollar Bill Gets a Security Makeover

The United States One Hundred Dollar Bill Gets a Security Makeover

Come October 2013, don’t be tricked by the new U.S. $100 bill, consider it a treat! With the same distinct face of Ben Franklin staring at you, the new bill will include advanced security features that are simple and subtle to verify that a $100 bill is a real note yet difficult for counterfeiters to reproduce it.

So, what’s new?

3-D Security Ribbon – This blue ribbon will be embedded with images of bells that change to the number 100 when tilted back and forth. Tilting side to side, makes the images move up and down. The ribbon is actually woven into the paper, not printed on it.

Liberty Bell – embedded in an inkwell on the front of the bill. Both images are copper, but tilt the note and the bell changes to green.

These new bills will be in U.S. bank accounts and ATMs on October 8, and no need to trade in your old $100 bills for the new ones…unless you want to ensure extra security on the most widely-counterfeited U.S. note.

Hexagon’s Accur8vision is a volumetric detection system that employs LiDAR technology to safeguard entire areas. Whenever it detects movement in a specified zone, it automatically differentiates a threat from a nonthreat, and immediately notifies security staff if necessary. Person detection is carried out within a radius of 80 meters from this device. Connected remotely via a portable computer device, it enables remote surveillance and does not depend on security staff patrolling the area.
