Symmetry's Edge Network, Two-door, PoE-enabled Controller Delivers Flexible Options

AMAG Technology has been working behind closed doors on a new access control architecture for the last three years and is proud to release the Symmetry EN-2DBC, an edge network, two door, Power over Ethernet (PoE) enabled controller. Building on the company’s track record and after listening to feedback from their worldwide customer base, the Symmetry EN-2DBC Edge Network Controller is the state-of-the-art panel that security installers have been looking for. AMAG Technology is a security management solution provider that specializes in unified access control, IP video and intrusion management solutions for the commercial and government markets.

“Our resellers want simplicity, reliability and cost effectiveness, and we have combined all of that in a single security appliance,” said AMAG Technology, President, Matt Barnette. “We have looked at all of the advances in the industry over the last three years and combined them in this advanced panel technology. We think this product answers our customer’s requests for hardware that is powerful, flexible, easy to configure and reduces installation costs.”

The flexible, PoE edge controller operates two doors, can use PoE to power the controller, card reader and door lock therefore reducing labor and costs for installations. The intelligent controller is IT friendly with network monitoring and is truly a scalable solution allowing the customer to expand their security system easily, anywhere they need it.

“There are no two installations alike and we know resellers like the flexibility of either a centralized or edge network architecture – often within the same project. The addition of this new EN-2DBC gives them more options,” said Barnette.

In addition to the simple but flexible architecture of the new access controller and the straightforward network discovery, it’s the ideal choice for organizations looking to deploy a distributed IP-based access control system, expand their current access control system, secure a few doors or upgrade their legacy system.

The Symmetry EN-2DBC requires the newly released Symmetry v8 access control software, and can be installed with Symmetry Business, Professional and Enterprise security management software. The EN-2DBC supports Symmetry Intrusion Management and works seamlessly with new version 8 features like Video Management, Vacation Card Holder, WorkFlow Manager and more.

Ask most companies about their future technology plans and the answers will most likely include AI. Then ask how they plan to deploy it, and that is where the responses may start to vary. Every company has unique surveillance requirements that are based on market focus, scale, scope, risk tolerance, geographic area and, of course, budget. Those factors all play a role in deciding how to configure a surveillance system, and how to effectively implement technologies like AI. Read Now

  • The Stage is Set

The security industry spans the entire globe, with manufacturers, developers and suppliers on every continent (well, almost—sorry, Antarctica). That means when regulations pop up in one area, they often have a ripple effect that impacts the entire supply chain. Recent data privacy regulations like GDPR in Europe and CPRA in California made waves when they first went into effect, forcing businesses to change the way they approach data collection and storage to continue operating in those markets. Even highly specific regulations like the U.S.’s National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) can have international reverberations – and this growing volume of legislation has continued to affect global supply chains in a variety of different ways.
