Frontier Debuts Nimble and Intelligent Security Controller

Frontier Security, a developer of integrated enterprise security management solutions for more than 35 years, announced today the release of the Cylon Security Controller. Cylon is a unique device that provides future proofing for installations over the next decade, even as processing power improves and more security functionality moves onboard.

"We invested in adding the best and brightest minds in engineering and innovation to our team to help create an elegant solution that replaces the antiquated controllers of the past," said Jeremy Krinitt, General Manager, Frontier Security. "Cylon is designed to streamline installations, and reduce the complexities and significant time required to install traditional controllers while providing market leading security capabilities. It truly redefines the product category."

The Cylon controller is built on the Open Supervised Device Protocol (OSDP), a communications specification developed by the Security Industry Association (SIA) and industry providers to encourage interoperability between access control devices and platforms. Cylon's support of OSDP and its flexible open architecture enable the controller to exceed comparable devices' life cycles. It also offers an easy upgrade process to further streamline usability and long-term value. Overall, The Cylon solution delivers the flexibility and scalability required by today's end users, delivering the opportunity to adapt and expand to meet the needs of today's installation as as well as tomorrow's.

"With processing power doubling every 24 months why should we expect users to limit security capabilities with today's processing speeds?" said Peter Jekel, Vice President of Engineering, Frontier Security. "Frontier delivers the industry's only upgradable processing module to allow organizations to continue to expand their capabilities now and into the future."

The Frontier team has expertly designed Cylon to allow users to efficiently and attractively mount the controller in a variety of configurations. It can be implemented as a panel configuration, with support for existing enclosures but also offers a modular panel configuration with improvements to door density and install-ability. An over-the-door enclosure provides exceptional ease of use and market leading design. An IT rack mount option is also available, taking advantage of the benefits of the IT infrastructure.

"I have been involved in access control for over 30 years, in service, installation and system design and personally deployed over 1000 systems in my career. I have never seen a solution that is designed from the ground up with ease of installation and serviceability in mind," says Dave Friedeck, Systems Engineer, TRL Systems Inc. "Cylon will provide us with a competitive advantage and it will help our team develop bids that deliver a significant reduction in installation time and cost, and that will help us win projects."

Frontier Security will showcase the new solutions along with its Frontier security management software solution at booth 2325 at the upcoming 60th Annual ASIS conference in Atlanta. In addition to demonstrating the capabilities of its technologies, which have been implemented by leading organizations including Miami International Airport and Texas A&M University, Frontier will demonstrate how it designs solutions that answer the fundamental security challenges of end users.
