Royal Security for Prince William and Princess Kate

About 20 hours ago, Prince William and Princess Kate arrived in New York at about the same time the voices of thousands of protestors, who have flooded the city’s streets to say their piece about the officers who killed Eric Garner, echoed throughout the alleyways. Although I’m pretty sure the royals didn’t hear these voices, as security is pretty tight around the expecting couple.
NYPD gave William and Kate extra security in light of the protests and their own team of Scotland Yard bodyguards is accompanying them on their 3-day US adventure, even though there is no suggestion of a direct threat against the Duke or Duchess.
“The way these demonstrations are spreading is being taken into account when planning their (William and Kate) movement,” said one of the bodyguards.
Upon arrival, the couple was whisked to their hotel, the Carlyle, where extra security has been implemented. Since their arrival, communal areas and hallways of the hotel have been swept several times throughout the afternoon. A hotel staff member also indicated that the hotel is being extra careful and that security during the Met Gala isn’t as tight as this.
With an action-packed schedule, William is traveling to Washington, D.C. to meet with President Obama to discuss his campaign against illegal wildlife trade while Kate plans on visiting a child development center in Harlem.
We wish Prince William and Princess Kate all the best during their US visit!
