Viscount Systems Unveils Web-based Access Control Appliance

Viscount Systems announced the release of Freedom CUBE, a Web-based access control network appliance for the small-to-medium enterprise environment of 64 doors or less.

The Freedom CUBE includes all of the features expected from an enterprise-class solution, including emergency mustering, elevator control, video integration and robust I/O configuration. Deployable as a bundled appliance, the Freedom CUBE is preloaded with Viscount’s powerful Freedom access control software, which leverages existing IT infrastructure and resources to ensure network security and streamlined management.

Freedom CUBE is an access control solution designed with built-in IT security features to protect critical data. IT staff charged with managing access control can easily configure the system and manage identities because the software is built on common IT standards. Most notably, there are no proprietary control panels — each card reader is an IP device on the network and is operated through a compact yet intuitive Web interface. Critical data is also easily accessible, making it easier to identify security trends and potential weaknesses.

“The new Freedom CUBE combines the power of our unique network architecture design and application software bundled on a low-cost network appliance,” said Dennis Raefield, president and CEO, Viscount Systems. “Ideal for the small-to-medium size organization, Freedom CUBE was conceived as a high-performance, scalable platform for delivering robust access control solutions at a very compelling price point. Cost-conscious customers in this market segment can now benefit from Freedom’s powerful software while ensuring future migration to our enterprise-class solutions.”
