Russia to Build New Weapons for Security

After touring a shooting range outside of Moscow, the Central Scientific Research Institute of Precise Mechanical Engineering, Russian President Vladimir Putin sad that some of the weapons he saw looked like they came straight from a scientific movie. It’s unclear if these futuristic weapons are what prompted Putin, but he has said that Russia will develop new weapons to ensure its security, without entering into an “arms race” with the West.

Putin suggests that Russia’s military plans to modernize should be realistic and consider the country’s current economic situation, one of recession.

Although he kept it quiet as to what country he was referring to, Putin believes that Russia can respond to military threats without spending as much as others.

“We can and should respond to that,” said Putin.
