Securitron Focuses on Sustainability with EcoPower at ISC West 2015

At ISC West 2015, Securitron, an ASSA ABLOY Group brand, is showcasing its commitment to developing efficient power for energy efficient locks, with its recently launched EcoPower power supply. EcoPower reduces power supply standby power consumption to only 8.5mW (0.0085W), a 99 percent decrease compared to current switching power supplies. It is GreenCircle Certified to dramatically lower total door power consumption by up to 99 percent, reducing it from 20W or more to a mere 0.3W when used with a low-power lock.

With such a small footprint, EcoPower is easy to install. It can be conveniently recessed into drywall, surface mounted above the door, or mounted on an existing UL listed double gang junction box. The included EcoPower battery provides up to 26 hours of backup and a built-in battery end-of-life notification system.

Securitron and ASSA ABLOY group brand, HES, are also teaming up at ISC West to preview technology specifically designed for sustainable access control. With the release of EcoPower, Securitron is showcasing a peek at EcoPower 2.0 multi-door power supply technology. This next- generation technology is intended to power multiple access control devices, while achieving up to 98 percent energy savings over traditional power supplies for a door using access control, and has the capability to handle a higher inrush.

Securitron is also previewing EcoMag Technology. EcoMag Technology supplies a Magnalock with multiple power saving modes that provides up to 80 percent energy savings compared to current maglocks, while delivering the same holding force.

The technology preview will also include Securitron PowerJump ICPT-R, which is a smaller, round version of the previously released ICPT, but is easier to install with the use of only a 1" drill bit. The ICPT-R transfers power without pins or wires across the door gap, eliminating points of vulnerability and wear, as well as the need to core drill the door.

For security integrators installing an electric strike for access control, HES is previewing EcoStrike™ Technology, which uses 98 percent less power than traditional electric strikes and is designed to work with a Securitron EcoPower power supply.

"It's no secret that there is a growing demand in today's market for sustainable security solutions," said David Corbin, Senior Product Manager, Securitron. "ASSA ABLOY is committed to providing innovative green solutions, and by providing sustainable technology alternatives at all points of a door with EcoPower, EcoFlex™, EcoMag and EcoStrike, we have achieved the most energy efficient electrified door opening in the world."

EcoPower and the full technology preview are on display at the ASSA ABLOY booth No. 8061, April 15 – 17 at the Sands Expo in Las Vegas.
