FBI Prevented Islamic State Attacks on July 4th

This just in…more than 10 people inspired by Islamic State’s online recruitment have been arrested over the past four weeks. Some of the 10 were aiming attacks around the July 4th holiday, according to FBI Director James Comey.

As you may remember, the FBI and Department of Homeland Security issued a warning to local law enforcement to be alert; however, nothing came to fruition.

Details were not given by the FBI about the number of plots or their targets; however, Comey did say that dozens of people in the U.S. who are suspected to be under the influence of Islamic State militants have “gone dark” due to encrypted data.
