Offering Trade Show Attendees More

When people beat their feet from 9am to 5pm on a concrete floor, searching for products and services while talking with manufacturers and services providers two things tend to happen. First, they quickly become feet-focused, especially if they are wearing uncomfortable shoes and their brains begin to shut down due to information overload. Therefore, it is up to those with booths to figure out a unique way to reach people.

On Twitter, the trending hashtag is #ASIS15 or #ASIS2015, which in my opinion was a bit confusing. Several PR firms, attendees and companies that I spoke with would ask me which hashtag I was using. Of course, I was using the shorter one since Twitter only allows 140 characters to create a cohesive thought.

Perhaps the most interesting tool that I used was the Periscope live video app that allowed Louroe Electronics' CEO Richard Brent to tell his message to my Twitter followers, no matter where they were physically. This enabled ASIS to be brought to the world via a smartphone with the swipe of my finger.

As I positioned my iPhone's video, I told Brent to just act naturally and have fun while I provided a live video stream of him to my followers. As he "took the stage," Brent's passion for security shined through while he explained a new term that he invented for the security market: "audio analytics." Through a progressive software that analyzes and identifies sounds in a way that's similar to how the human ear processes sounds, with advanced algorithms, analytics classify various sounds from aggression in a public space to gunshots in a school to the sound of breaking glass in a business after it has closed its doors for the day.

With teamwork between Brent and me, he was able to present his message in a unique and interesting way from the showroom floor while I was able to allow my Twitter followers a way to experience a part of ASIS in multidimensional way.

Ah, the power of social media.
