Technology Reaching Into the Cloud

For the past 14 years, Security Today magazine, Open Options and Axis Communications have hosted the annual Security Industry Party. This year, at the House of Blues. Open Options has been a great partner, and along the way, we have added new partners to help sponsor an event that brings people together after two days of hard work on the ASIS show floor.

Other sponsors include Milestone, Vingtor/Stentofon, Allegion, ASSA ABLOY, HID Global, traka by ASSA ABLOY, Magicard, Stopware, Veracity, WaveLynx and Isonas.

I know there are lots of other parties happening during the trade shows and all are to be commended to bringing people in the industry together to enjoy an evening of laughter and enjoyment. I have a couple great things to say about my staff, who have worked tirelessly during this and other trade shows, and who leave the parties early to sit down and bring news to the security industry from the day before. I am particularly proud of our Brent Dirks, who stays awake late into the night putting all this together, scheduling its release so the Security Today Enews can be released each morning. I've never known anyone to work as hard and smart as Brent.

A couple things from the show floor, a quick visit to ProdataKey (PDK), who is bring a cloud access solution to the market. Yes, the cloud is the real deal, and what you can expect from a true cloud solution is seamless configuration and control, real time functionality and alerts, and it can should be manageable on any device anytime, anywhere.

I'm kind of amazed at all the technology, which by the way, seems to grow quicker and deeper with each solution. PDK says you can streamline the entire programming process with full configuration from you mobile device. Before closing up the ceiling tile, you will know that the door (access control) is functioning properly. PDK says streamlined mobile programming is one feature that defines who they are. It's worth a look.

I took a look at Defenda, a cyber command solution that offers on-demand services to stop breaches, mitigating damage and isolating an organization from sophisticated threat actors. Another worthwhile take a look at solution. Thee are, obviously many more solutions, which we will highlight during the 2018 campaign of Security Today magazine. I have taken these past few days to line up many contributed stories from industry technology experts, who will explain how and why all these things work.

Thanks for Costar for bringing the original Gas Monkey Garage star to the trade who floor. The lines to get a photo and autographed photo of Richard Rawlings stretched for quite a distance. Rawlings is a character, but he is the genuine article. Our September issue of Security Today has a great story about his leap into the security world with Costar installing a great system to protect his business, employees and assets.

Last but not least, a quick thank you to Kingston Digital for a cool pair of socks, and for joining the show. They are definitely worth a look at encrypted flash drives. The socks are nice but the technology is the show stopper.

Have a great last few hours of ASIS today, and thanks for coming to Dallas.
