Dubai Airport Replaces Security Checks with Unique Idea

Dubai International Airport is replacing security checks with an aquarium. Yes, you read that right.

Dubai International Airport has decided to make some unique changes to their security procedures in the next couple of years. Instead of security counters and checkpoints, the airport will be introducing virtual fish to identify your identity.

Yes, that's right. Fish.

Airport security is famous for its long lines and frustrating screening rules, Dubai International Airport is hoping to quicken the process and make it more enjoyable by asking passengers to pass through a virtual aquarium tunnel which is outfitted with 80 built-in cameras that will scan their faces.

I know what you are thinking, "What about the fish?" Well they play an important role. The fish will capture the attention of the traveler, giving the face scanning camera more time to take an accurate reading of the face.

"The fish is a sort of entertainment and something new for the traveler but, at the end of the day, it attracts the vision of the travelers to different corners in the tunnel for the cameras to capture his/her face print," foreign affairs chief Major Gen Obaid Al Hameeri told The National.

In order to pass through the virtual fish tank, you'll need to be pre-registered through the 3D kiosks set up at locations around the airport.

The first "biometric border," as officials call it, will appear in late 2018 at Dubai Airport's Terminal 3, and will be rolled out to the other terminals by 2020.
