3 People Killed In Colorado Walmart Shooting

Three people are dead after a man open fires in a Walmart.

Three people are dead after a man walked into a Colorado Walmart and open fired on shoppers.

The calls came in around 6:00 p.m. Wednesday night with reports of "multiple parties down." The store was evacuated as authorities arrived on scene.

Witnesses told Thornton Police that a man "nonchalantly" entered the store Wednesday night, took out a handgun and began firing randomly on people.

Police found the victims in the south entrance. Two men were pronounced dead at the scene and a female victim was transported to Denver Health where she later succumbed to her injuries. The victims have not been identified.

Victor Avila, a spokesperson for the police department, said the suspect was identified as Scott Ostrem, 47, by security cameras at the entrances of the shopping center. The cameras caught Ostrem leaving the store in the same calm manner that he entered.

"This is a very heinous act," Avila said. "We don't know exactly what the motive of the person was, but it was certainly a terrible act."

As of 9:00 a.m. central time, the suspect has been taken into custody.
