With the second day of Security Essen is well underway, I dare say there is hardly room to squeeze an orange to find room in some of the halls (there are 12 halls total). In the halls where companies show access control, video surveillance and cameras, it’s shoulder to shoulder. Booths and employees are busy almost everywhere.

One of Europe’s most modern health centers has brought in IndigoVision to ensure that staff are able to monitor high dependency patients across a large suite of rooms and carry out analysis work. The new IP video system replaces ageing analogue equipment that was becoming maintenance intensive and failure prone.
Axis Communications recently announced 360-degree fixed mini dome cameras with a 5 megapixel sensor that enables detailed, high-quality 360-degree or 180-degree panoramic views of wide indoor areas.
A couple ideas crossed my mind while taking a lunch break at Security Essen. The facility is so large that they have two press centers, but what I liked most about the press center is that they service a nice cup of chicken noodle soup to the journalists.
The importance of telecommunication companies on the security and home automation scene is becoming increasingly apparent as more end users become educated about the latest technology.

I like Philadelphia. It seems like a nice place to host a tradeshow. The convention center, its location and the city in general were a great host for ASIS 2012.

In 2013, it will be the “Sweet Home” of the 59th Annual Seminar and Exhibits when ASIS International sets up shop Sept. 24-27 at McCormick Place, situated right on the shore of Lake Michigan.
