Duane DeCouteau Joins Jericho Systems as Software Managing Director

Jericho Systems Corporation, which provides attribute-based access control (ABAC) decisioning technology for the secure sharing of sensitive information within the healthcare and U.S. federal agency communities, announced that Duane A. DeCouteau has joined the company as its managing director of software.

“As one of the most respected experts in the standards-based exchange of electronic medical data, Duane is a perfect complement to our development team, and will play a key role in helping us to further expand our dominance as a Texas company securing America's electronic assets.”

DeCouteau has more than 26 years of experience as a software architect. He will lead product development for Jericho’s EnterSpace Decisioning Service and will ensure that it continues to align with both industry standards and the needs of Jericho’s major clients such as the Department of Veteran’s Affairs (VA) and the Department of Defense (DoD).

DeCouteau’s healthcare background includes senior roles with the VA and DoD, standards organizations such as OASIS and major federal contractors. His expertise reinforces the role of Jericho Systems as a key provider of standards-based technology that enables the secure sharing of medical data while complying with the recommendations of the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology for enforcing organizational and patient privacy.

Most recently, DeCouteau served as senior software architect working with the VA to co-author three fully ratified OASIS standards addressing patient security and privacy concerns: the Cross-Enterprise Security and Authorization Profiles of SAML, XACML and WS-Trust for Healthcare. He has also been a contributing developer on several major clinical initiatives such as the Virtual Lifetime Electronic Record (VLER) system championed by President Obama, and the DoD Nationwide Health Information Network (NwHIN), for which Jericho Systems was selected in 2010 as one of only eight civilian firms to provide key architectural components.

DeCouteau is a member of Montana’s Health Information Exchange (HIE) Security and Privacy public workgroup, and is a voting member of the OASIS SAML, XACML and XSPA technical committees.

“We’re thrilled to have Duane join Jericho Systems,” said Brynn Mow, CEO of Jericho Systems. “As one of the most respected experts in the standards-based exchange of electronic medical data, Duane is a perfect complement to our development team, and will play a key role in helping us to further expand our dominance as a Texas company securing America's electronic assets.”

“Since 2007, I have worked on interfacing clinical components with all of the major vendors in the decisioning space in the U.S., Europe, and beyond,” DeCouteau said. “Jericho Systems and its EnterSpace solution consistently set themselves apart as the most adaptive and reliable platform for enforcing security and patient privacy, and I am very excited to be working with Jericho’s world-class team.”
