AFI Displays New Fiber Transmission, Network Solutions

At this year’s ISC West, American Fibertek, Inc. (AFI) is featuring a full line of network and fiber transmission solutions that address the industry demand for faster, cleaner and more efficient ways to complement IP-based video surveillance and security systems.

“Building on our industry leadership in security specific transmission solutions, AFI is delivering innovative fiber and IP based solutions that meet the demands of today’s analog, hybrid and IP  system platforms,” said Jack Fernandes, president and CEO of AFI. “Throughout the recent economic downturn, we maintained our product development and marketing investments and consequently are able to offer network and fiber transmission solutions that keep us at the forefront of the industry.”

Over the course of the past year, AFI focused their attention on the development of three areas; specialty products employing flexible (pluggable) sub-carriers, hybrid products and IP-based products. The results are exhibited at ISC West and include a new AX Series transmission system for the Aiphone AX video/intercom system that is designed to transmit all Aiphone functions on one fiber in either single or multi-mode. The new AFI 89A/AX Series Transceiver was developed with the help and cooperation of the engineers at Aiphone U.S. in Washington state. The AFI 88 Series is designed to supervise contacts on a fiber network. The product was developed as a result of a U.S. Navy project that required a supervised contact closure system on one fiber.

Other developments from AFI are their complete line of enhanced Pluggable PCBs (printed circuit boards) that provide increased flexibility in manufacturing; an Ethernet Mini-Switch, complete with a high resolution analog video channel for simultaneous receiving and transmitting; and enhancements to the Pilot VMS platform and NET I/O series.

Also on display are recent additions to the line of 10 bit digital video products including the 91PE Series one channel, 92P338 Series three channel and the 94P599SL Series two and four channel video systems with a two port copper Ethernet switch and various sub-channels. These systems can also accommodate the Afinety fiber network monitoring system.

The complete suite of V’nes systems products on display at ISC West includes: Commander Series IP Communications Switch, Scout Series Environmental Monitoring System, Pilot Series Video and Network Management Software, Director Series Dedicated Server Storage Solutions, Net I/O Edge Devices for networking contact closures and data channels and MX Series Multi Port Media Converters.

V’nes provides an “Open Path” to integrate IP and analog systems operation and is the industry’s only comprehensive video surveillance network solution that delivers control, management and transmission capabilities in fully customizable and scalable user-specified configurations. For optimum efficiency and low total cost of ownership, V’nes accommodates any combination of video surveillance, access control, point of sale, voice and data system devices operating on an analog, IP or hybrid platform from virtually any manufacturer.

As the industry’s only comprehensive source for security specific transmission solutions, AFI continues to demonstrate the initiative that has driven the company for more than 25 years. Product development is focused on specialty products, products using flexible (pluggable) sub-carriers, hybrid products and IP-based products. In addition to funding new product development and promotion, the company has continued their participation in industry-related events such as ISC West and Europe’s IFSEC and Essen trade shows.

AFI’s sales channel has also benefited from this momentum with easy access to a new and improved web site and increased technical support.

“AFI continues to demonstrate a high degree of product innovation,” Fernandes said. “Leveraging our in-house technical expertise, the company is committed to providing the industry’s leading security specific transmission solutions.”
