Avnet Technology Solutions Enhances Its Security Solutions for Partners with the Addition of RSA

Avnet Technology Solutions, the solutions distribution leader and an operating group of Avnet Inc., announced a new distribution agreement with RSA, the security division of EMC. Avnet will distribute RSA’s security, risk and compliance solutions to value-added reseller (VAR) partners in the U.S. and Canada. Partners can take advantage of Avnet’s complementary line card suppliers and its focused engagement programs like SecurePath, as well as enablement programs and dedicated resources to incorporate RSA solutions into complete data center security strategies for their customers.

“Avnet’s proven methodology for helping resellers target growth opportunities and deliver complete business solutions aligns with RSA’s strategy for channel development,” said Shawn Pearson, senior director, channel and inside sales, RSA, the security division of EMC. “Companies are facing serious business challenges, including managing organizational risk, safeguarding mobile access and collaboration, proving compliance, and securing virtual and cloud environments. Through its SecurePath practice, Avnet enables its reseller partners to become trusted advisors to their customers. The expertise resellers gain from Avnet can accelerate their ability to deliver complete RSA-based security solutions that address their customers’ business needs.”

Avnet partners will be able to leverage many aspects of Avnet’s solutions offerings including: strategic supplier alignment, demand generation, training and dedicated resources—all available to help identify and pursue growth opportunities created by data center convergence. For example, Avnet’s SecurePath practice provides resellers with in-depth consultation to help them identify and assess their customers’ business infrastructures, capabilities and strengths. This market knowledge enables Avnet’s partners to develop and deliver strategies and solutions that prevent and respond to infrastructure vulnerabilities.

“As a result of our new distribution agreement with RSA, Avnet’s partners can address their customers’ most complex and sensitive security challenges by providing complete solutions that include hardware, software and services,” said Scott Look, vice president and general manager, Technology Infrastructure Solutions, Avnet Technology Solutions, Americas. “RSA’s technology is a perfect complement to Avnet’s full portfolio of data center solutions. In addition, RSA is a critical component of the VCE Vblock for securing the virtual data center. Avnet fully supports Vblock through our distribution relationships with Cisco, EMC and VMware.”

Combining business-critical controls in identity assurance, data loss prevention, encryption and tokenization, fraud protection and SIEM with industry leading eGRC capabilities and consulting services, RSA brings trust and visibility to millions of user identities, the transactions that they perform and the data that is generated.

“Infrastructure security is the number one concern raised by CEOs, CIOs and IT directors I meet with every day,” said Marco Mohajer, executive vice president sales and marketing for Technologent, a global solutions integrator and Avnet partner. “Working together with Avnet and RSA to design solutions that alleviate that concern gives me a real business advantage. This new alliance also provides my team with access to dedicated resources and knowledgeable experts that help us stay ahead of the competition in high-growth vertical markets like financial services and healthcare where providing the right security solution is critical.”

  • The Evolution of IP Camera Intelligence

As the 30th anniversary of the IP camera approaches in 2026, it is worth reflecting on how far we have come. The first network camera, launched in 1996, delivered one frame every 17 seconds—not impressive by today’s standards, but groundbreaking at the time. It did something that no analog system could: transmit video over a standard IP network. Read Now

  • From Surveillance to Intelligence

Years ago, it would have been significantly more expensive to run an analytic like that — requiring a custom-built solution with burdensome infrastructure demands — but modern edge devices have made it accessible to everyone. It also saves time, which is a critical factor if a missing child is involved. Video compression technology has played a critical role as well. Over the years, significant advancements have been made in video coding standards — including H.263, MPEG formats, and H.264—alongside compression optimization technologies developed by IP video manufacturers to improve efficiency without sacrificing quality. The open-source AV1 codec developed by the Alliance for Open Media—a consortium including Google, Netflix, Microsoft, Amazon and others — is already the preferred decoder for cloud-based applications, and is quickly becoming the standard for video compression of all types.
