VideoIQ, FLIR Announce New Thermal Analytics Processor

VideoIQ recently announced that it has partnered with FLIR to create a premium solution to provide analytics, edge NVR storage, and IP video encoding optimized for FLIR's range of high-performance thermal cameras.

When joined with FLIR's SR- and F-Series cameras, the Thermal Analytics Processor creates the most effective and affordable off-the-shelf solutions available for perimeter thermal security.

Building on VideoIQ's adaptive analytics technology, the Thermal Analytics Processor uses VideoIQ's new proprietary FLIR Mode analytics specially tuned to get the most out of FLIR's high-resolution thermal cameras.

The Analytics Processor, in conjunction with FLIR's thermal imaging cameras, enables users to automatically classify detected objects as people, vehicles, or boats with no calibration, delivering the greatest accuracy while dramatically reducing false alarms.

The Thermal Analytics Processor optimized for FLIR provides 160GB of on-board NVR storage, eliminating the need to stream images across a network to a central NVR and reducing network traffic and bandwidth by up to 90 percent.

By automatically encoding analog video from a FLIR camera into an IP video signal, the Thermal Analytics Processor makes them plug-and-play compatible with existing IP networks, simplifying site infrastructure. The Thermal Analytics Processor supports integration with many VMS systems including Genetec, Milestone, ONSSI, Lenel and VideoIQ View.

"In partnership with VideoIQ, we've created the most effective and affordable off-the-shelf solution for security detection, analysis, alarming, recording and notification," said Bill Klink, vice president of security and surveillance at FLIR Systems.

"By working with FLIR, we've developed the most scalable and accurate zero light surveillance solution available on the market for critical infrastructure, government and transportation customers, whether they're deploying a single camera in a remote location or hundreds of cameras to protect a large facility," said Ed Bednarcik, president and CEO of VideoIQ.

The Thermal Analytics Processor will be available from FLIR on October 1.
