Dublin McDonald's is Lovin' it with IQinVision Megapixel Technology

A McDonald’s 24-hour drive-thru restaurant in Dublin, Ireland, has deployed IQinVision HD megapixel cameras to improve safety and operations. Arrestec completed the installation for this video surveillance solution. The value-added distributor GVD helped design and specify the solution, and supplied the IQinVision cameras to Arrestec.

Noted for their award-winning high standards, McDonald’s decided on an IP video surveillance system because of the image quality achieved both day and night from the IQeye megapixel cameras, ease of use of the Smart Client user interface, and the ability to log on to the store remotely via their own Virtual Private Network. Once McDonald’s staff visited the National IP Experience Centre and saw a working demonstration of the IQinVision cameras and Milestone XProtect video platform, the decision was easily made.

IQeye Alliance-mini dome PoE cameras in 1.3 MP and 2 MP cover the restaurant eating areas, the counter areas, the cash registers, the drive thru windows, staff areas, and kitchens. To monitor outside traffic through the drive-thru, a combination of 2MP IQeye Sentinel PoE cameras were mounted on poles and HD720p IQeye Alliance-mx vandal-resistant domes were positioned to capture registration plates on cars exiting the drive-thru lanes. All 24 IQeye cameras record to a Milestone server, which allows management to retrieve and view video simply and efficiently.

Megapixel cameras are becoming more popular for use in retail and restaurant environments as owners realize the quality of images they can attain from IP. With an IP network security solution each IQeye camera can be adjusted for best performance including frame rates, motion detection sensitivity, and privacy masking. The security installer can remotely log on to each individual camera and adjust settings, never having to go on site. The advantage of higher megapixel cameras such as the 2MP IQeye Alliance and Sentinel cameras is their wide area of coverage without comprising on detail. Running a 24-hour business, the quality of video footage is crucial whether day or night. For the protection of staff and customers, McDonald’s displays its live, high-quality megapixel video footage on prominent monitors to successfully deter opportunistic thieves.

Organizations are increasingly turning their attention to human-focused security approaches, as two out of three (68%) cybersecurity incidents involve people. Threat actors are shifting from targeting networks and systems to hacking humans via social engineering methods, living off human errors as their most prevalent attack vector. Whether manipulated or not, human cyber behavior is leveraged to gain backdoor access into systems. This mainly results from a lack of employee training and awareness about evolving attack techniques employed by malign actors. Read Now
