Arecont Vision Views Operations at King Soopers Distribution Center

Arecont Vision megapixel cameras now provide a clear view of business operations at the 550,000-square-foot King Soopers Distribution Center located on the eastern slope of the Rocky Mountains. The Distribution Center is required to have a functioning video system in order to pass an annual audit, and Arecont Vision megapixel cameras provide highly detailed video. The cameras are mounted just below the approximately 40-foot ceilings to ensure they are not damaged by forklifts. Even at that distance, the cameras deliver excellent images of daily operations with enough detail to provide evidence to aid loss prevention.

United Systems, Denver, the systems integrator, demonstrated to King Soopers' decision makers the ability of megapixel cameras to provide image quality far superior to the Distribution Center's previous analog system, which had started to fail. “We chose Arecont Vision cameras because of their extremely clear images and wide variety of cameras,” said Chris Keith, Director of Sales and Technology, United Systems.

An Arecont Vision AV20185DN-HB SurroundVIdeo® 180-degree panoramic camera was installed outdoors on the side of the building to watch the guard shack, trucking lanes, parking area and shipping and receiving. The 20 megapixel day/night camera provides a complete 180-degree view of the property, replacing a pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) camera that only captured the image in the direction the camera was pointed. A heater-blower enables the Arecont Vision camera to operate despite temperature extremes.

King Soopers has future plans to add three Arecont Vision D4S-AV5115-3312 5 megapixel dome cameras inside the warehouse to focus on the shipping and receiving doors. The all-in-one indoor dome camera includes a 3.3 – 12mm IR-corrected lens to provide extremely clear images from its mount high above the warehouse floor. The customer will also be adding multiple 3 megapixel cameras throughout the warehouse to replace current analog cameras.

The system provides the customer more detailed video of how products are being handled and what is actually being delivered and shipped. “The Arecont Vision megapixel cameras provide superior image quality, and digital zoom makes the image even more useful,” said Robert Urbanek, Information Technology Manager Advantage Logistics (King Soopers), Aurora, Colorado. “Clear images help us track product movement and view on-the-job accidents and injuries.”
