Fifth Third Bank Standardizes on March Networks 8000 Series Hybrid NVRs

Fifth Third Bank Standardizes on March Networks 8000 Series Hybrid NVRsToday at the ISC West International Security Conference and Exposition, March Networks, a supplier of video surveillance solutions to banks in the Americas, is pleased to announce that Fifth Third Bancorp has launched an upgrade program to replace more than 1,600 of its existing March Networks network video recorders (NVRs) with new, high-performance March Networks 8000 Series Hybrid NVRs. One of the top 15 banks in the U.S., Fifth Third Bank has already initiated the deployment, which reaches across its 1,300 full-service retail banking branches, data centers, corporate offices, operations and cash handling facilities in the United States.

“We’re very pleased to advance our video surveillance capabilities with this new platform from our long-time partner March Networks,” said Mike Neugebauer, vice president and senior manager, safety and security at Fifth Third Bank. “With the 8000 Series NVRs, we gain expanded IP camera capacity, dramatically improved image quality from existing analog cameras, and support for a range of software options that we hope to adopt in the future to combat losses from fraudulent transactions.”

Fifth Third Bank is currently evaluating the March Networks Searchlight suite of intelligent video applications, which is fully supported by the high-performance 8000 Series platforms. The software is proven to help banks and credit unions significantly reduce fraudulent losses through centralized searches on correlated surveillance video, transaction data, license plate numbers, colors, and facial images. Searchlight proactively detects ATM skimming and cash harvesting, speeds investigations and helps financial institutions deliver clear and compelling case evidence to law enforcement. In addition, Fifth Third Bank is assessing the use of Searchlight’s queue-monitoring and loitering analytics enabled on the 8000 Series recorders to gather valuable operational data, such as how customers are interacting with new self-serve kiosks it is introducing in select banking branches.

Fifth Third Bank will realize numerous benefits with its 8000 Series upgrade. The NVRs’ crystal-clear video for example, offers the improved image quality critical to identifying bill denominations and other detail. Advanced H.264 video compression – uniquely optimized by March Networks – ensures that the noticeably sharper video quality is captured without increasing bandwidth or storage requirements. In addition, the recorders’ ability to support as many as 32 IP cameras in an all IP video deployment, or any hybrid combination up to 16 analog and 16 IP cameras, will enable Fifth Third Bank to continue adding high-definition IP video capabilities, while taking full advantage of its existing analog surveillance investments.

“With more than 450 financial customers worldwide using our video surveillance solutions, we are keenly aware of our customers’ need to continually improve their defenses against fraud, migrate to IP technologies, and realize the best possible return on investment,” said Net Payne, chief marketing officer, March Networks. “We’re pleased that Fifth Third Bank is upgrading to our 8000 Series platform to cost-effectively advance its immediate and longer-term video surveillance and business intelligence capabilities.”

March Networks will demonstrate its next-generation video surveillance platform for banks and credit unions in Booth 25041 at the ISC West International Security Conference and Exposition, April 10-12, at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV.
