Minuteman Launches Ruggedized Environmental UPS for Extreme Environments

Para Systems, Inc. announced the release of the Minuteman ERS1500RTNC, a ruggedized uninterruptible power supply (UPS) designed to provide protection to support traffic control and monitoring equipment, servers, telecom equipment, VoIP systems, security systems and a variety of other applications.

The ERS1500RTNC is a line-interactive unit with a capacity 1500VA and 1050W. With versatile rack/tower/wallmount options and its ability to withstand extreme temperature environments, the ERS1500RTNC is optimal for a wide range of installation spaces.

The new ERS1500RTNC is designed to efficiently operate in extreme temperature environments. The ERS1500RTNC’s expanded temperature range is perfectly suited for use in extreme temperature and humidity installations where a standard UPS would be unable to function. High Temperature batteries and temperature-compensated charging combine to provide an operating temperature range from +5 to +122°F (-15 to +50°C), making the ERS1500RTNC an economical and rugged choice for backing up equipment with extreme installation parameters. Additionally, each unit has conformal coating on all electronics that resists corrosion in high humidity installations.

As with other UPSs, the ERS1500RTNC serves as an “electrical firewall”, preventing catastrophic damage from blackouts, brownouts, surges and spikes. Power problems can wreak havoc for both business owners and consumers, particularly in the traffic and transportation industry, where the environments are often harsher but still demand reliability when it comes to power. ERS1500RTNC UPS provides a low-cost protection solution that withstands harsh conditions that make it ideal for high-humidity and high-temperature environments, such as including the Gulf Coast and other harsh areas.

“When business owners and managers purchase expensive security, telephone or networking systems and put them in environments that are not ideal for a standard UPS, these devices are obviously at high risk,” stated Bill Allen, director of marketing. “When you compare the price tag associated with downtime, along with the expense of replacing equipment, the ERS1500RTNC is an extremely cost-effective way to preserve and protect these investments in a ruggedized package.”

A rugged LED display that shows power status and operational mode is also a standard feature. As an additional bonus, each unit is installed with an SNMP management card for remote management and monitoring over a LAN. Minuteman’s SentryPlus monitoring and management software is also included. All ERS1500RTNC units are covered by a 1-year parts and labor warranty and $100,000 Minuteman Platinum Protection Plan.

“The new ERS1500RTNC UPS raises the bar by offering an extreme environment capable product at a substantially lower price than competitive products," added Allen. "When you combine the extensive features, its ability to be placed in a wider variety of spaces and environments, and flexible mounting options, the ERS1500RTNC represents an excellent value."

The ERS1500RTNC UPS is currently available for purchase through Minuteman’s extensive distribution network, systems integrators and on-line resellers.
