Security Guard Sacrifices His Life at Roller Rink

A security guard lost his life after defending hundreds of people from shooters in a roller rink on New Year’s Eve, according to a report. Richard Williamson, 48, was gunned down outside of Cal Skate in Grand Terrace, Calif., when a shooting broke out.

“He saved a bunch of kids and families, no doubt in my mind,” said Michael Marcoly, a trucker who was parked nearby.

According to local police the shooters remain on the loose. The roller rink had been hosting a New Year’s Eve party that attracted 200 people, including many children.

Marcoly said Williamson was able to pull out his own weapon and return fire before he was killed. Williamson owned Big Will’s Security Services, a company providing training and security.

“Our prayers are with the officer who was involved and those who witnessed this tragic event,” the rink wrote in a statement.
