New Altronix Power Supply Charger Solves a Common Access Control Installation Challenge

Dual Output Power Supply Charger Provides a Host of Features

Altronix now offers model OLS120D2X Power Supply/Charger. This unit is designed to provide installers with the versatility of deploying access control devices with different voltages using a single power source. In addition to saving valuable space, the OLS120D2X provides substantial reductions in labor and equipment costs by eliminating the need to install additional power supplies.

“We initially designed the OLS120D2 Power Supply/Charger board to meet the requirement of a large international airport access control system,” said Alan Forman, President, Altronix Corporation. “We decided to make this product available as a standard catalog item to our channel partners as we believed it would be beneficial to other integrators.”

The OLS120D2X Power Supply/Charger comes with an enclosure that accommodates up to two 12VDC 7AH batteries. The unit features a universal 115/230VAC input, provides 24VDC rated at 3A and 12VDC rated at 1A over separate outputs simultaneously. A full 4A of power is available when using only one output. Additional features include integral battery charging, short circuit and thermal overload protection, and AC fail and low battery supervision. The product is also available in a board only version (model OLS120D2).

The OLS120D2X Power Supply/Charger is ideal for a wide range of access control and security systems applications incorporating magnetic locks, strikes and request-to-exit devices.

Manufactured in the U.S.A., the OLS120D2 Power Supply/Charger carries a lifetime warranty.

Years ago, it would have been significantly more expensive to run an analytic like that — requiring a custom-built solution with burdensome infrastructure demands — but modern edge devices have made it accessible to everyone. It also saves time, which is a critical factor if a missing child is involved. Video compression technology has played a critical role as well. Over the years, significant advancements have been made in video coding standards — including H.263, MPEG formats, and H.264—alongside compression optimization technologies developed by IP video manufacturers to improve efficiency without sacrificing quality. The open-source AV1 codec developed by the Alliance for Open Media—a consortium including Google, Netflix, Microsoft, Amazon and others — is already the preferred decoder for cloud-based applications, and is quickly becoming the standard for video compression of all types.
