Loy And McFall Will Be Recognized With The Highest Individual Awards Presented AtThe Advance, SIA's Annual Membership Meeting

The Security Industry Association (SIA) has named Kim Loy and Brendan McFall as the 2023 recipients of the SIA Chair’s Award, an award presented annually and selected by SIA’s Board of Directors chair recognizing SIA members’ diligent efforts in furthering the association’s mission and commitment to its future.  SIA will present Loy and McFall with the award at The Advance, SIA’s annual membership meeting, March 28 during ISC West, 10:30 a.m. in The Venetian Expo during ISC West.

Loy, a security industry veteran with more than 25 years of senior management experience, has achieved significant success within a wide variety of global enterprises. In her most recent role as chief product officer for ACRE, she oversaw the company’s brands, strategic product planning, and cybersecurity strategy and provided direction for messaging strategy and communications development. Loy has held senior positions with Vanderbilt International, GE Security, G4S, Xtralis and Pelco by Schneider Electric. Also inducted into the Security Hall of Fame, she was recognized in the inaugural SIA Women Security Forum Power 100 in March 2022. Loy was also a recipient of the 2020 Women of Technology Award.

Loy has served three terms on the SIA Board of Directors and two terms as a member of the Executive Committee, and recognized as SIA’s Volunteer of the Year in 2006, is a past co-chair of SIA’s Access Control and Identity Subcommittee and has been active within SIA’s standards and learning and development activities. She is a strong advocate for SIA’s mission and has been an avid supporter of the association’s cybersecurity programming, the Securing New Ground conference and the efforts of the SIA Women in Security Forum.

“I’m grateful to be selected as a 2023 SIA Chair’s Award Honoree,” Loy said. “I’ve been fortunate enough to have a number of people who I look up to as mentors and leaders who have helped me grow into the professional that I am today. I’m also very thankful for the opportunities that have allowed me to take on leadership roles and make decisions about the innovations being developed in the security industry.”

After graduating from St. Mary’s College of Maryland, Brendan McFall “stumbled” into the security industry. McFall began his career in 2014 as executive assistant for Northland Control’s CEO, Pierre Trapanese. Since then, he has taken on a number of different roles at Northland, most recently becoming the East Coast operations manager in 2022. Outside of Northland, McFall remains active in the wider security industry and is passionate about helping young professionals advance in their careers.

In 2018, McFall served as chair of the SIA RISE community for young security professionals and those new to the security industry, and he leads RISE’s subcommittee responsible for the annual AcceleRISE conference, presented by RISE and designed for tomorrow’s security leaders. In 2020 he became a board member of the Foundation for Advancing Security Talent, a nonprofit founded by SIA and the Electronic Security Association dedicated to connecting passionate, innovative professionals with new opportunities in the electronic security and life safety industry. He is also an instructor for SIA’s Certified Security Project Manager (CSPM) Review Course.

“I am deeply honored to be recognized as a 2023 SIA Chair’s Award Recipient,” McFall said. “It has been an absolute pleasure working with the team at SIA. They are an incredible group of hardworking, genuine and selfless individuals who are making our industry a better place to work. I encourage anyone interested in making a broader impact to reach out to SIA and find a way to get involved!”

“Kim Loy and Brendan McFall are inspiring security leaders who have made vital contributions to SIA and the industry through their involvement in SIA programs, communities and initiatives,” said James Rothstein, chair of the SIA Board of Directors. “Kim’s longtime support of SIA for many years, including service on the SIA Board of Directors and Executive Committee and dedication and advocacy surrounding SIA’s mission, and Brendan’s passionate commitment to advancing the future of the industry and empowering tomorrow’s security leaders have been invaluable. We are proud to honor them with the 2023 SIA Chair’s Award and look forward to celebrating their outstanding achievements and efforts at The Advance.”
