Luminys Debuts AI Search and Cloud Video Enhancements

New LumiAgent technology allows security operators to search surveillance footage using natural language queries for faster investigations.

Luminys Systems Corporation announced a significant expansion of its video security and infrastructure portfolio this week, introducing AI-powered search capabilities and hardware updates ahead of the ISC West conference.

The centerpiece of the rollout is LumiAgent, a new tool for the LumiCloud and LumiCenter platforms. The technology utilizes Vision Language Models and Large Language Models to enable natural-language searching of recorded video.

The system allows users to enter specific descriptions, such as "Find a person wearing a red shirt walking to a car in the parking lot," to retrieve relevant footage in seconds. By combining AI models with camera metadata, the platform converts video into searchable events, aiming to reduce the time required for manual investigations.

"LumiAgent represents a fundamental shift," said Freddy Kuo, chairman of Luminys Systems Corporation. "We’re combining AI, cloud and edge technology to turn video into a proactive decision-making tool."

The company also introduced "direct-to-cloud" cameras that eliminate the need for an on-site network video recorder (NVR). These units stream footage directly to the LumiCloud platform, which now supports subscription plans ranging from 30 to 180 days of video retention.

For remote locations lacking traditional infrastructure, the company unveiled the LumiWatch Solar unit. The system features a 120-watt solar panel and a 960-watt-hour rechargeable battery to provide off-grid surveillance.

The expansion includes updates to the company’s "Adventure" quadruped robot. The four-legged mobile platform, designed for inspections in complex environments, now features a three-hour battery life and the ability to navigate obstacles up to 25 centimeters high.

The new suite of products and AI features will be demonstrated at The Venetian Expo during ISC West in Las Vegas.
