Las Vegas Strip at night

ISC West 2026 Opening is a Smash!

The security industry converges in Las Vegas as pre-COVID attendance levels return, highlighting the rise of AI and license plate recognition technology.

Pre-COVID tradeshow numbers have once again been registered at ISC West. I was excited to join the thousands of attendees for opening day. Once the doors were opened, it was a mad scramble to the exhibits.

I’m asked every year if I can name the hottest item on the show floor.

Without a doubt, the opening day conversation was about license plate reader technology. Numerous vendors pointed directly to this security solution as their number one offering.

This was followed by conversations about AI solutions. Among the topics discussed were whether LPR was an invasive technology. It seems to be used almost everywhere, at any time.

I’m anxious to get back on the security tradeshow floor to discover more solutions.

The top booth of the year certainly goes to Verkada, which has a reasonable likeness of the louvre in Paris. A thief steals the Crown Jewels. With a light description of the thief and getaway vehicle. And once again, the tradeshow and Las Vegas food reached new heights. I’m well fed.

LVT wins the booth layout with its rendition. It was a compact and complete solution.

My thanks to Tim Palmquist for sharing a few minutes with me after the show while I tended to my wounded knees.

Come join me on the show floor!
