AirSight Highlights Mobile Solar Powered Drone Detection Unit

The towable trailer system tracks drones and pilots from up to five miles away, operating completely off-grid for critical infrastructure security.

An airspace security company has highlighted a new mobile drone detection unit designed to provide rapid, off-grid tracking capabilities for critical infrastructure and large-scale events.

The system, developed by AirSight, is built on a rugged, single-axle mobile trailer platform equipped with an 18-foot manual mast. The towable unit can be transported by standard vehicles, allowing security teams to deploy airspace monitoring to remote facilities or temporary venues without relying on a permanent power grid.

Operating on a 730-watt solar array paired with a 400-ampere-hour battery bank, the unit generates and stores its own electricity for continuous operation. The weather-resistant platform is rated to withstand winds up to 60 mph and function in temperatures ranging from minus 22 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit.

The technology provides 360-degree tracking of both unmanned aircraft and their operators at distances up to 5 miles. According to company specifications, the system instantly identifies more than 850 commercial and industrial drone models, delivering real-time telemetry to help security personnel locate pilots and coordinate responses.

The platform can also be customized to scale with evolving site requirements. Available upgrades include directional finding sensors for extended range, security cameras and automated deterrence tools such as sirens, strobe lights and license plate recognition software.
