Echodyne Partners With Axon on Public Safety Radar

A new collaboration integrates advanced radar technology into public safety drone programs to track low-altitude airspace activity.

A radar platform company has partnered with a public safety technology leader to expand infrastructure for homeland security and law enforcement drone applications.

The agreement between Echodyne and Axon aims to enhance low-altitude airspace awareness for authorized drone operations while helping agencies detect unauthorized or malicious drone activity worldwide.

Demand is rising globally for detailed tracking of the lower airspace as drone utilization increases. Programs like Drone as First Responder deliver critical information to emergency personnel in transit, but scaling these operations requires precise data to avoid collisions and monitor for rogue drone use.

The collaboration integrates Echodyne's patented metamaterial electronically scanned array radar technology into Axon's public safety drone ecosystem, which includes its Axon Air and Dedrone solutions.

According to the companies, the combined technology is already used to manage hundreds of daily drone flights for first responders, with dozens of additional customer deployments underway. The partnership focuses on providing the necessary safety infrastructure as public safety agencies transition toward semi-autonomous and fully autonomous drone operations.
