Iveda Unveils Natural Language Prompts for Surveillance Analytics

The new capability allows security operators to instantly deploy custom detection models to live video feeds.

A major advancement in artificial intelligence video analytics now allows retailers and security operators to build custom detection models using single-word natural language prompts.

The software capability, integrated into the IvedaAI platform, enables users to type commands such as "shoplifting," "suspicious behavior" or "graffiti" to instantly activate tracking parameters on live video feeds. The technology eliminates the traditional requirements for extensive datasets, data labeling or deployment lag.

Building a detection model historically required weeks of training and significant technical resources. The new process compresses that timeline to seconds by constructing a custom model in real time the moment a user submits a prompt, applying the parameters directly to live or recorded video.

The software addresses retail loss prevention by utilizing advanced vision language models alongside existing pre-trained object detection infrastructure. Instead of tracking static objects, the platform interprets the intent and context behind human behaviors, such as concealment methods or pre-incident activity. Early testing of the system included flagging individuals scanning restricted entry points and monitoring sensitive areas for loitering, vandalism and aggressive conduct.

Operators can deploy the system through two pathways based on infrastructure needs. A cloud-connected mode allows for live frame analysis without additional on-site hardware investments. For closed-network environments, an on-premise server utilizes a proprietary engine to process data locally with zero open ports, eliminating cloud dependency.

The capability is built on top of foundational object detection technologies, including weapons recognition, license plate identification and facial recognition. The real-time detection feature is currently available as a licensed add-on for existing monitoring dashboards.
