Modernized Training Course Helps Security Integrators Upskill Technicians Faster

The Electronic Security Association updated its foundational course with expanded content on wireless tech, IoT and cybersecurity.

The Electronic Security Association updated its foundational Certified Alarm Technician Level 1 training program to help security integrators onboard technicians and adapt to changing workplace technologies.

The 22-hour online course covers the fundamentals of planning and installing intrusion detection, fire detection, video surveillance and access control systems. Students complete a two-hour proctored examination following the coursework.

Updates to the curriculum include expanded coverage of wireless technology, Internet of Things systems and basic cybersecurity principles. The redesigned coursework also incorporates interactive learning modules intended to improve information retention and real-world application in the field.

The industry continues to face a shortage of qualified technicians while demand for electronic security installations grows. The updated certification provides a self-paced, scalable training option for companies seeking to train new personnel and meet licensing requirements set by local authorities.
