Fastly Launches AI Firewall and Runtime Control
The new tools address malicious prompts, model usage and AI agent access to enterprise APIs.

Cloud platform provider Fastly has introduced AI Firewall, AI Runtime Control and new API Security capabilities to manage artificial intelligence activity and enforce security policies.
AI Firewall evaluates prompts before they reach targeted models. Fastly said it is designed to detect and block attacks against large language models, including prompt injection.
AI Runtime Control provides a central endpoint for requests to public and self-hosted providers. Its features include virtual keys that protect provider credentials, tools for tracking spending and setting usage limits, budget controls and failover support.
The new API Security features apply rules to requests from AI agents and conventional applications. Organizations can review or block requests that fall outside established API rules, including those formatted incorrectly or seeking operations the interface does not support.
The additions join existing Fastly tools for bot management, API discovery, web application security and distributed denial-of-service protection.
