Two businessmen shake hands.

HID Joins FIDO Alliance Board

HID Vice President of the Authentication Business Unit Sean Dyon will represent the company as the alliance addresses standards and deployment challenges for enterprise passkeys.

HID has joined the FIDO Alliance Board of Directors to add its perspective on physical and digital authentication to the group’s standards work.

Sean Dyon, vice president of HID’s authentication business unit, will serve as the company’s primary board representative. The alliance develops open authentication standards that support passkeys and passwordless sign-in.

HID said its board participation will focus on enterprise deployment challenges, including compatibility among different vendors’ systems, credential lifecycle management and coordination between physical and digital identity technologies.

The board helps determine the alliance’s strategy, standards development and certification priorities. HID will participate in governance and strategy discussions with other member companies.

According to HID, expanding passkey deployments beyond pilot programs has increased attention to how authentication systems work together and how organizations manage credentials at scale.

HID has been a part of the alliance since 2015. Its previous involvement includes working groups addressing FIDO2, digital credentials and consumer deployment, along with joint research on identity security. The company also develops FIDO-certified authentication devices and platforms for enterprise and government use.
