Milestone Systems to Preview New BriefCam Capabilities at IACP 2026

New analytics capabilities planned for IACP include searches using written descriptions, customizable detection models and real-time alerts.

Investigators will get a preview of upcoming BriefCam video analytics capabilities at the International Association of Chiefs of Police 2026 Annual Conference and Exposition. Milestone Systems will demonstrate the platform at the event in Orlando, Florida, Oct. 24-27.

According to Milestone, the features include searching footage with written descriptions, training the platform’s detection model and generating precise and timely alerts. The updates are intended to help investigators locate relevant footage and examine interactions between people and objects.

BriefCam supports cameras already in use and connects with Milestone’s XProtect and other video management platforms. That compatibility allows agencies to introduce analytics while retaining their camera infrastructure, the company said.

Milestone also plans to demonstrate XProtect Evidence Manager, which consolidates video and other digital material, including submissions from outside an agency. The system supports sharing with prosecutors and other agencies while preserving chain of custody.

Another demonstration will feature Precision Blur, which uses brighter AI technology to blur faces and vehicle license plates in exported footage. The tool retains other details in a scene to support investigations while limiting the disclosure of identifying information.
