Users of Keeper Security’s browser extension can enable a new feature designed to identify fraudulent login pages and warn them before they provide account credentials, the company said.
The feature, called Phishing Protection, uses artificial intelligence running on the user’s device to assess websites for signs of credential theft. Keeper said the analysis occurs locally without sharing user data.
The system examines domain names that imitate legitimate brands, suspicious web addresses and password requests from sites it considers untrustworthy. Its checks include misleading characters in domain names and unusual address structures.
When the extension flags a page, it displays an explanation of the suspected threat. Users can review the findings, dismiss the alert or deactivate Keeper for that website. Access and automatic password entry can later be restored through the extension’s list of blocked websites.
The feature requires activation and is initially switched off. Organizations can manage it through Keeper’s administrative console, while individuals can adjust settings within the extension.
